Back in the 1980's, an out of work miner with a welding hobby and a passion for BBQ, stumbled upon a rather nice piece of steel pipe. With a little creativity and ingenuity, my dreams of building a smoker became reality and fueled my BBQ addiction. I was like a mad scientist in the kitchen, concocting and creating various sauces, rubs, marinades and slathers (a couple of which you can purchase on this site)- it's taken me about 10 years to master my sauces, but they're perfect and pair beautifully with a hearty slab of meat!

I started introducing my sauces by having parties in my backyard in Leadville, Colorado, which soon became legendary. Family, friends and folks in general would come from all over to get a taste of my BBQ!

Now, in 2015 after winning many contests and earning the title of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards Keith is still hosting friends and family. Folks in general come from all over to get a taste of his BBQ! His fans are addicted to his different styles of Barbecue sauces!

On a whim, I entered a contest, my wife thought I was nuts! Regardless, I could not have pulled it off without the massive assistance of both my lovely wife and friends. As it turned out, we did pretty good. I won a ribbon for my sauce and gave a lot of Pitmasters a run for their money! In time, I  learned how to smoke amazing slabs of meat that paired wonderfully with my award winning sauces,  however I also learned how NOT  to smoke a chicken!


Winning the contests came $100 and a ribbon,  I got to keep my ribbon, but the wife took the money ....to fuel her quilting addiction!

Our History:

This year, 2015, has been the best by far, we attended competitions in Frisco and Fairplay Colorado, both contests are Kansas City BBQ Society Sanctioned Events. In Frisco, Colorado we placed 1st in the sauce competition! This was followed with a 2nd place in the Fairplay competition. Don't mean to brag, I am a very humbled man, but what the heck, I'm pretty proud of my Award winning sauces!. 

​We are still hooked, and now the wife is even impressed. I still have the backyard parties occasionally and still do a contest now and then, but I have been restricted to only one or two a year by the wife (too much work). There is something to be said for good friends, good food and maybe throwing a horseshoe or two. Having said all that, sit back, browse through my site and let me share with you what I have learned.
